After three weeks of preparation, the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman track & field are back in competition, heading to the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina University.

Field events highlighted the outdoor season opener for the B-CU track , as the Wildcats traveled to the 63rd Annual FAMU Relays on Saturday at Robert "Pete" Griffin Track.

B-CU's track elites wrapped up competition on Sunday at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, with three athletes taking on the nation's top indoor competition.

Three Bethune-Cookman student-athletes will join the ranks of the national elite this weekend, as they compete for at the USA Track & Field Indoor Track & Field Championships

The men's ranking came down to a shootout in one event, falling just five points short of being crowned champions, finishing a program-best second place, while the women were fifth.

After one day of competition at the MEAC Indoor Championships, the B-CU men sit in fourth place, while the women rank sixth. However, both teams are lined up for scoring opportunities in Saturday's finals.

The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats could get a scoring boost from an unexpected source -- the rookies. Ed'Ricus Williams and Kenneth Fisher are two freshmen that are making noise in 2014.
